‘Terminator’ franchise still alive: Producer

An American producer says ‘Terminator’ franchise will continue, amid reports the sixth installment is cancelled.

American producer David Ellison says the ‘Terminator’ franchise will continue, amid reports that a major movie studio suspended plans for a sixth installment.

Ellison has assured fans that the sci-fi series has “an incredibly bright future” following reports Paramount had suspended plans for a sixth installment.

Ellison, however, stated that 'Terminator' series has “an incredibly bright future” and that an announcement regarding the franchise is due later this year.

“I will say we have resolved the future of the franchise and, believe me, it’s an incredibly bright future,” Ellison said, adding that, “I think where it’s going will be the continuation of what the fans really wanted since T2 [Terminator 2: Judgment Day].”

Ellison, who is CEO of Skydance Media, produced ‘Terminator Genisys’, the most recent installment in the series.

“We have something this year that we will be announcing for the franchise. It’s something we’re incredibly excited about and we think is the direction it needs to head,” Ellison concluded.

It is unclear whether action star Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in the movie, though Paramount has passed on the option for him to take a role.
